I spent some time recently in Norway and was surprised that hardly have any stop signs 🛑. In fact I didn’t see one the entire time I was there. What do they have instead? Raised intersections with cobblestone treatment. It forces people to slow down. This one is in Stavanger. 👇

Dream Big

It took 5 yrs to get street calming implemented in my neighbourhood & in that time I noticed there’s a window where parents support safer streets. It’s while their kids are between 6 and 13. Outside that, they no longer care. 🤷‍♂️

This is the kind of advertising I would love to see @calgarytransit.com put up in their buses and LRT cars. Make sure their captivated audience knows they are appreciated and should be proud of their choice to take transit.

When we gather people in public forums, we must remember that public spaces are the original sites of democracy. So when we come together to debate housing, mobility, or environmental issues, we are either strengthening the tenets of democracy or diminishing them. There is no in-between.

If only our kids had the same freedom as poultry.
