1/2: On Saturday, I joined with the Calgary Chinese community to mark completion of the restoration of the Chinese cemetery on Macleod Trail with the installation of a plaque. For three years the community has been repairing headstones and cleaning up vandalism and neglect.

1/3: Back to school is around the corner, but with increasing economic challenge. The youth unemployment rate is up to 14.6% - 34,000 people aged 15 to 24 lost their jobs in July. Worse, for young people returning to school, the unemployment rate hit 17.5%.

1/3: Good news from Year One of TMX's operation. As predicted, it has lowered the price gap between Western Canadian Select & West Texas Intermediate oil prices sufficiently to increase oil revenues by $13 billion, according to Alberta Central chief economist Charles St-Arnaud.
