Wayne Bostick, president of the NC A. Philip Randolph Institute, runs a food bank and is seeing firsthand how rising costs and housing prices deepen food insecurity in NC, impacting many veterans. DOGE cuts are making it harder for food banks to help families in need.

Julie Holcomb, a research coordinator at the VA in Durham, was forced to resign from her position because of DOGE cuts. The result? Unfinished research on PTSD treatments for veterans. “It’s the epitome of waste.”
