This is possibly the most personal story I've ever written, about love and grief and a bird nesting inside your thoracic cavity, and I'm so glad it's out in the world today. ❤️

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed. The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

Sometimes when you're taking a second pass on a piece of writing, the hardest thing to do is distilling a character's growth into the most satisfying narrative arc possible. And sometimes it's figuring out how the HELL you're gonna resolve Chekhov's Mothman before the end of this damn book 😔

I love when someone's driving like they want to be the Main Character Of The Highway, and then I get level with them and their car is all mangled. It makes the Correlation Goblin in my brain that conjures demons from my popcorn ceiling at night sit up and shriek "PATTERN!! PATTERN ESTABLISHED!!"
