In 1997, Jed Hoyer was an admissions officer at Kenyon College and I was a high school senior. After he did my admissions interview for what became my alma mater, he confided that he wanted to some day get a job working in baseball. Apparently, it worked.

This Friday is the 25th anniversary of Baseball Reference! The website went online in April 2000, after first being launched that February. To commemorate this anniversary, Baseball Reference founder & president Sean Forman is hosting an AMA on r/baseball on February 7th at 11:30am ET.

The tell on this one is that in the press release, MLB talked about how most injuries seem to occur in Spring Training without considering that Spring Training is when pitchers get their first medical examination in several months.

I have a copy of the report. It is not a "study." It is a survey of quotes, with a lot of paragraphs that start "Many experts believe..." It also confuses correlation with causation (even when, sure, there probably IS causation). Its biggest takeaway is that we need a lot more actual research.
