Intelligent, purposeful, temporary avoidance can absolutely be a trauma recovery tool-- as long as we don't confuse it w/ reflexive, mindless, symptomatic avoidance. In any realistic recovery arc, there are times for confrontation AND avoidance. Neither should be our default.
