Know what I just realized? In The Crystal Maze, when the contestants have to pick between a skill, mental, physical or mystery game... mystery just means a random one of the other three. I always thought it meant 'you have to solve a mystery' when I was a kid.

One of my coworkers, for a laugh, took a photo of me and asked it to make me look like Robert Smith from The Cure. It... just fluffed my hair up and changed the colour of my shirt to black. That was it. That's all it did. and it's a fucking dead ringer. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Romhacks especially tend to be an underrated part of gaming in general. Kaizo stuff takes up a lot of the air and the various 'ha ha, made it vulgar' stuff doesn't help, but there are a lot of full reimaginings or just straight up patches/fixes for older games made by casual devs.

I'm now 3hrs 48min into the Clan Novel Tzimisce audiobook. The narrator just pronounced the name of the Ventrue clan as 'Venture'.

Watching some 'worst endings of TV shows' vids on YouTube and y'all really need to learn two things. 1- The ending of Quantum Leap was not bad. 2- The ending of The Sopranos was not bad. Y'all got to learn that ambiguity doesn't equate to being a bad thing. Sometimes it works artistically.

So, so much of this is rooted in the shift in how the new generation of players coming into the hobby view the GM. They don't want 'people' to play games with, they want vending machines for entertainment they can turn on and off whenever they want.

My co-workers have a Star Wars TTRPG that a bunch of them play every week. It's not the Star Trek RPG that's published and widely available; it's a D&D homebrew because people are D&D players, not RPG players. And they use ChatGPT for their character art, backstories, planets and lore.
