More than any other medium, authors directly rely on royalties from purchases. Every purchase gets them income, even from big pubs.

Today really is a Four Seasons in One Day kind of day. Really obvious that song was written about Melbourne after being here for a few days.

After several weeks without them, it feels wonderful to be allowed to have my hormones again!

Discharged from hospital and back into the apartment we've rented for a couple of weeks. So grateful to all the nurses at the hospital - now it's time for the recovery period without them!

Made a lot of progress today, including having most of the dressings and bandages removed. Lots more tears shed. Still expected to be discharged from hospital tomorrow. I can't put it into words just how positive this has been already. I feel complete.

I've been able to stand up and walk a few steps around my room! Surgeon said everything went "perfect" and it all seems to be recovering well already, even after less than 24 hours.

I feel amazing. Cried several times already out of happiness and relief. Will likely do so a few more times (many more times). I can't really put into words how good this makes me feel. This is right up there with getting married as the best day of my life.

Did my best to enjoy day 1 of the Supercars at the Gold Coast today, but have had my first really big struggle day since having to stop hormones temporarily. Felt really tired and lethargic all day. Really good racing though.

I finally got all my paperback proofs of Feral Flame so I can compare them. They all look good already, and I've approved them for distribution, but they won't go on sale till November 11.

I think one of the most exciting things about being a publisher is the feeling that you're getting to read someone's future favourite books before anyone else.
