Back in late 2020, in my capacity as director of a new Neuroscience Ph.D. program, I led an effort to apply for an NIH T32 G-RISE grant. It was rejected, then I handed it off to my co-PIs before they resubmitted it (in quite a hurry), it was rejected again, but recently we heard that it was funded!

New paper: across 3 EEG experiments, we examined how do we edit WM at test. Imagine you were asked to memorize 4 colored squares during encoding: at test, when you were given a single test probe, are you able to remove the items at irrelevant positions (upper), or do you have to keep'em (lower)? 1/n

New Publication Alert! 🚨 Along with @koberauer.bsky.social and @agnesrosner.bsky.social we investigated if eye movements are functional for memory retrieval in an associative recognition task and largely found evidence against it. Read more: link.springer.com/article/10.3... #workingmemory

Our newest finding: tiny microsaccades are biased toward the location that is about to be attentionally suppressed. This suggests that attention briefly precedes suppression: before the system can suppress a location, it first appears to select it.

Our latest paper is no longer behind a paywall! We show that visual bias in working memory toward interference can be moderated by motor control 🧠. Check it out!

In collaboration with @monicarosenb.bsky.social , we showed that individual diffs in LTM encoding is uniquely predicted by inter-electrode correlations even controlling for working memory abilities. This suggests that WM & LTM encoding are separate abilities coded by different neural signatures! 1/n

So many studies have been designed under the assumption that the link between CDA and individual differences in memory is large and robust. We find that this is not the case. 1/N

A multi-lab replication effort (@eegmanylabs.bsky.social) of the contralateral delay activity (CDA) has just been published online! In brief, the set-size effect appears to be robustly observed, but CDA correlation with VWM capacity is not reliably strong. doi.org/10.1016/j.co...
