Received an arc of kim hye-jin's new book today. Not going to lie, may take me a little bit to get through as the story of our nameless protagonist struggling with an indifferent, corporate and capitalist controlled and indifferent world might be a little bleakly close to reality.

These new evil dead movies just feel like evil dead to me. They take themselves too seriously. without raimi directly at the helm the visual style is off too. Compare them to something like send help. They're not bad, & may in fact be 'better' horror movies, but aren't the same franchise.

Just watched Send Help. It was fine, but I can't help but notice that ultimately the main character just became the exact sort of person (who looks/behaves/sounds a certain way) that the douchebag rich people told her she needed to be at the beginning. Just sort of became one of the rich assholes.

Decided to finish off @premeemohamed.com collection first. I read 'The Evaluator' in @scottrjones.bsky.social mmp collection & really enjoyed it. Glad to see a couple other stories in the same world here, still would love to see more of those characters/world. This collection did not disappoint.
