Ooohhh, son of my mother, I just got stung by a wasp. One jerk messed it up for all of them. We were coexisting on the front porch, but it’s eviction time.

Calls for civility are often weaponized by abusers, by bigots, by those who would oppress you. If it is considered impolite to speak out against dishonor, then it is time for a true warrior to be rude.

A polite bigot is a bigot nonetheless. A true warrior knows that courteous words do not dilute the poison, but only serve to conceal it until it has spread. Civility in the service of hate deserves no polite response.

Oof. Daughter’s been in the hospital with a “fever of unknown origin” since Saturday. I’ve been managing all the house stuff while the wife has stayed with her, but today is a long day at work with no one to let dogs out for potty breaks, so I hope there’s not too much of a mess to clean up later.

I’ve been awake for 25 hours, but we’re back home and Adventure Day is done. Now for a couple hours of sleep, then shoving everything into the garage where it will be sorted later. We’re gonna have to make a second trip for the old GE fridge and some other stuff and to just help sort more. Sleeps.

So it takes a lot for me to say something is terrifying. But this old freezer we picked up was still plugged in, on, VERY warm to the touch and hadn’t been defrosted in likely 20 years. The cord, in particular, evokes quite the “holy-mother-of-fuck” from me. #holymotheroffuck

It’s Adventure Day today. The wife and I are heading up to Dallas, towing a little 5”x8” trailer (first time towing for us) to pick up some old family furniture and other stuff. 100 miles down, a little under 200 more to go to get there. Then flip it and reverse it home. Taco’s haulin’ like a champ.

Finally did a thing I’ve needed to do for a while and broke down (almost) everything I need for all the maintenance on my truck when it hits 100k miles. Gonna come out to roughly $1100, but that also gives me about $150 for unexpected or forgotten things. Better than paying a shop $3000+ to do it.

The hardest part about rescue is you can’t save them all. Little Houdini had come down with a respiratory infection a couple days ago, and despite our best efforts, even building a makeshift NICU box for nebulizer treatments, he’s been in a slow decline. #evalove, come take him and keep him safe.

Brain has not been keen on making the juices that improve one’s mood lately. The switch to night shift doesn’t seem to have helped either. Just all around miserable, bored with everything and depressed. This, too, shall pass, but until then, blargh.

Cold water intake solenoid on the washer corroded, seizing up and flooding the garage a bit. Seems an easy and cheap enough fix, we just need to find a parts supplier that has it or can order it for us.

The #catdistributionsystem strikes again. Found under a car at work, they’d been there all day. I had to fish one out from on top of the plastic skid plate. I’d guess mama put ‘em up there overnight and they had quite a ride the next morning. I hope that there was only the three. #catrescue

At a screening of The Last Unicorn I asked Peter S Beagle if he had any advice for aspiring writers. I don’t remember his response exactly, but to paraphrase it was, “Stare at the page until blood starts to bead on your forehead and then just write.” I still need to get started on that last part.

Transgender people have always been a central part of the LGBTQ+ movement, and we cannot allow them to be written out of history. Join me in calling for the reversal of this erasure by signing this petition:

Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, both transgender activists, were on the front lines of this watershed event for LGBTQ+ rights in America. This deletion is a deliberate attempt to marginalize transgender people and deny them their rightful place in this story.

Under Donald Trump, the United States National Park Service has erased any mention of transgender people from their history of the Stonewall Uprising. The "T" in "LGBTQ+" has been removed, as has the word "queer."

Jonathan Joss (Comanche, White Mountain Apache) did not simply die from a gunshot. He was murdered in a homophobic, racist hate crime by his former neighbors. He died saving his partners life. Honor his legacy-- both queerness and Indigeneity are inextricable to why he was targeted.
