Great changes to Standard. More or less exactly what I would have done in WotC's shoes. The Pioneer ban makes a lot of sense to me, although I wish I got to play the format enough to really explore the implications. Mid-RC Modern ban was never happening. Overall, nice work WotC.

Congratulations to friend of stream Tristan on re-qualifying for the PT seconds ago! He is an incredible player who has been on the grind for so long and there is absolutely nobody I would rather see make it back.

I went 2-2 to 11-2 at the GP last weekend, which I am proud of regardless of the result. But then I looked back and learned that the last two times I q'd for the PT I, at some point, won 9 matches in a row. I guess you just need to go on a run to do well in Magic in general.

Question: At the moment, if a player is disqualified at some event A, is there any mechanism whatsoever to prevent them from playing event B, presuming A and B are run by different Tournament Organizers?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the hardest deck to pilot in Standard is the red aggro deck.

On the other site @pvddr.bsky.social asked which two-color combo is most common among PT/WC top 8 decks. Here's my first attempt at an answer. I said a deck's colors = colors common to (a) its cards' mana costs plus (b) what can be made by its lands that produce 1-2 colors. Small errors likely.

The AC got absolutely butchered. Getting rid of draft is one thing, but in general the structure is just horrible, tiny number of swiss rounds into much of the field playing a single match for a pt invite. Really sad to see
