Nah man a big part of why the UB stuff makes me sad is cause I know it's extremely popular so they're going to keep doing it despite it making the parts of the game I deeply care about worse. Like I know a bunch of people are going to buy the 6th marvel set but that doesn't make my FNM fire.

Respectfully I think something that your argument and many like it miss is that zero sum or not: The "soul" of the game that we so love is being eroded Even if UB works out AND we get a competitive scene again as part of the result, a lot of the "magic" is lost

Thinking about it more it's kinda weird that Modern (a competitive format with a Pro Tour coming up) and Legacy (a beloved casual format) both got no changes for the reasons the other one should be using.
