Caught up on Exceptional X-men. I still love the book, especially when it focuses on interpersonal dynamics, but Sinister did not work for me. He was used too much in the last era, often at an enormous scale. Exceptional Sinister was both more of the same and somehow not enough.

In a cultural moment that will be remembered for its regression, The Ultimates really stands out for what could be different and better. I’m all in, ride or die for it and in awe of its existence.

It was divas’ week in comics with Phoenix, Storm, and Uncanny (I’m sure Gail has cosmic powers too, right?). Phoenix ended its arc nicely but I have to admit that I wasn’t really invested in the Dark Gods. I think saving Adani’s soul should have been depicted as more challenging.

X-men comics are so funny. What do you mean they abandoned their enormously popular new push that brought in so many new readers and is being adapted in the only Marvel property people like in favour of boring, mediocre, and regressive comics?

Weird week for #xspoilers. I’ll start with the positive. Uncanny had its best issue so far because it leaned into its setting and focused on an adult X-man. I like how Rogue and Gambit handled their mistakes. More Haven House and established X-men will improve this series going forward.

Cyclops’ X-men never should have been trying to return Xavier to Graymalkin. The developments this week course corrected but the damage has already been done. And I cant help but ask “what’s the point?”

X-Manhunt is off to a really rough start. The Xandra stuff came out of nowhere. Rogue and Gambit blow up a kid and act sad about it. Eternity uses Storm to defend Xavier, of all people. Storm is barely a character. Xavier was a different character in each issue.
