I don't care what Bregman plays like 5 years from now. Cubs roster is almost entirely in or about to exit their prime over the next 1-2 years, not to mention most of their contracts expire too. Cubs need to make a push now. Getting Bregman helps accomplish that. An impact pitcher at TDL will too.
