The Comics Code Authority asked EC to make the astronaut white before publishing the comic, Gaines argued this defeated the purpose of the story. The CCA then asked if they'd remove the sweat from the astronaut & Gaines recognizing the CCA wanted to feel any power at all told them to fuck themselves

JUDGEMENT DAY is about a masked astronaut sent to a planet of sentient robots to determine if they can join a Galactic Federation. The astronaut rejects their bid after observing they've built a hierarchy solely around which color they're painted. We only see the astronauts face in the final panel.
