trying to find a silver lining and most days it's the journalists and writers consistently staying so unshakeably engaged with this hellscape to provide the rest of us with tempered, thoughtful, honest, and comprehensive accounts.

My dad, who has lived under a dictatorship, knows one when he sees one. His first text this morning is that we are now officially in a dictatorship. It is all pretty grim.

Someone's been hiding pride/equality children books under our bookshelves, so this year our staff made EVERY display in the building pride-related. We've never had so much color in here!

This tactic of dismembering books is, as Maris says, deeply disingenuous. It's also conspiracy-theory thinking. The books they're trying to ban are widely and thoroughly discussed by professional librarians and educators who've read the whole damn book. No one is "uncovering" any secrets here.
