Believe it or not, most of my work done so far has been for A King’s Genocide’s UI. The gameplay part mostly works out of the box since it’s a Visual Novel. I expect an Uno Reverse card to hit me in the face as soon as I get to the Action RPG stuff for the sequel. #gamedev #vndev

In A King's Genocide, this is what the CG Gallery will look like. You'll have a preview look of the CG when scrolling through the list, and then you'll be able to open up the CG and all other CG's tied to that first one in a new screen for you to get a closer look. #gamedev #vndev

For video games, I would generally say only update the engine you’re using if there’s a major feature you need, or if you’re starting a new project. If you’re sure the update will break your game and there’s nothing major you need, don’t update until the next game. #gamedev #vndev

I’d wanted to show how the CG Gallery was going to look in A King’s Genocide by now, but implementing controls takes far longer than you ever think it’s going to take. Especially when you consider you now have to debug it. #gamedev #indiegamedev

If you're trying to do a crossfade effect in Unity using shaders, make sure the images you'll be crossfading with have Mesh Type set to "Full Rect". You'll save yourself about a weeks worth of headache wondering why your fade effect is cutting off the image you're fading to. #gamedev #vndev

As the world gets crazier and crazier, remember to keep a record of what used to be and what is currently reality. As a video game or whatever your specialty is. Your view of events will be looked at for generations to come. #gamedev #indiegamedev

I have been down a rabbit hole of figuring out what controller the player is using in A King's Genocide and switching to the appropriate glyph set for the past month-ish. It might look like it's working in the GIF, but even still, a bug cropped up while recording this. #gamedev #indiedev

A good way to find bugs in your game is to try and run it on a different operating system or console. One moment your controller bindings will work, the next minute they won’t. #gamedev #vndev

I know very little about how to code shaders, but Unity’s ShaderGraphs have been a saving grace in that regard. I’m sure ShaderGraphs have some big limitation that makes them way worse than coding shaders, but I haven’t hit that limitation yet. #gamedev #indiedev

It’s not necessarily bad to be an ideas guy. But you need to be bringing more than ideas to the table for your game. Pick a part of the game you want to work on and learn how to excel at that. It can be any aspect. Art, Programming, graphic design. Anything! Learn it! #gamedev #indiedev

I'm working on a demo for A King's Genocide while I'm between jobs. It's a Dark Fantasy story about an angel named Aracelia and a series of murders happening around her in the Angel City of Eridu. It's going to be a kinetic/visual novel. But I plan on expanding it in the sequel. #gamedev #vndev

Something about playing as a dragoon in Final Fantasy VI is so satisfying. Just seeing Mog hit the ground in combination with the damage done being displayed feels right. Even better when you get 2 or 3 more jumps. That’s good game design! #gamedev #indiedev

Final Fantasy VI is absolutely the culmination of all Final Fantasy games before it. I can see why it’s considered the greatest of the Final Fantasy games. VI has my number 2 spot for its gameplay alone so far. Final Fantasy X is still my all-time favorite though. #gamedev #vndev

Dispatch is good! It has just the right ratio of gameplay to scenes when played as a whole. On one hand, weekly releases probably didn’t help it. The gameplay felt sparse without all the episodes. But at the same time, the story was so engaging that I was left engaged each week! #gamedev #vndev

One of the many many dangers of Python for inexperienced programmers is that when you search online for something, often the solutions people provide are way overengineered or just straight up insane. You'll end up with 70 haphazardly installed packages and at least one will break every update.

Every now and then, I get a person reaching out to ask to help with my game. That’s just one more reason I know what I’m trying to make is interesting. So remember, if someone reaches out to you asking to help, you’re clearly doing something right! #gamedev #indiedev

I finished Shin Megami Tensei V, and I gotta say… it’s definitely better than the original. The sluggishness is gone at least on Steam. The difficulty absolutely got toned down in places, but it’s still there for super bosses. Specifically True Masakado. Definitely an improvement. #gamedev #vndev
