Show, Don't Tell It's misunderstood by most prose writers, what its actual history is, and what the term really means. To me, story is about how readers feel, not how great the words the writer uses. So I do my best to show AND tell

more of an elementary school rule but I love opening a sentence with “but” or “and.” I think it’s my writing voice and the way I try to build tension or abrupt actions in the middle of things without creating long sentences that might end up diluting the snappiness
