After second breakfast it was back out for inverts. Seven species of butterfly inc stacks of Dark Green Fritillaries and Painted Ladies. The two Large Heaths Sean evaded the camera, as usual 🙄

A great day for pseudoscorpions yesterday. Took advantage of cooler weather & cycled 45 miles with @jeremybartlett.bsky.social taking in 4 churches. Chthonius ischnocheles at all 4 in churchyard. Inside 3, Cheiridium museorum, inc live individuals (often find dead ones). A good days recording.

I found this spectacular Musk Beetle in a bit of scrub near a new housing development. The larvae develop in willows and the upper Exe Estuary area seems the best place to find this sp. in Devon. #coleoptera

A Green Lacewing on an Ox-Eye Daisy, nicely posing to show off how it got its name. Whilst the larvae are ferocious predators, hoovering up aphids like a human kid eats M&Ms, the adults feed on pollen, nectar and, ironically, honeydew. #invertebrates #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife

I've never seen a Flower Crab #spider as yellow as this one. It's been quite successful hunting on the Corn Marigold, as I've witnessed a few times. It really does channel "Nothing to see here, just some petals catching some rays!". #arachnids #invertebrates #wildlifefrommywindow #gardenwildlife

Today was my first visit to the 'Bee City' at Castlemartin Range, Pembrokeshire, since April. This extraordinary population of Golden-ringed Mason Bee (Osmia aurulenta) nest in empty ammunition casings - an incredible adaptation to living on an activity military site!
