On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast. The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me. But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

Rewatching The Phantom Menace in the background—my son had a half day—and it gets way more hate than it deserves. Room for improvements? Certainly. But sure seems like a bunch of wealthy industrialists bringing down a republic to increase their wealth seems pretty foresighted to me.
