First time in my life I lost my glasses in the plane when the cabin lights were dimmed for sleeping and had a momentary panic how to navigate airport half blind.

I cannot express how incendiary, moving, brave and important this feels. Not so much a manifesto against AI chatbots, as a plea for students--for all of us--to the things that allow us to think for ourselves, and to build our own future against narratives of the inevitability of the present path

I do think that what’s happening now to most unis in the UK giving up on academic standards and values in light of AI rolling over them is comparable: it was truly avoidable. “AI” was not exactly unexpected. Some institutions were better prepared, reflecting better governance structures.
