A stop-motion experiment I did back in 2018. I don't think I posted it online publicly anywhere, and if I did, it would have only been on my Twitter, meaning it's not online anymore anyway. So, here it is.

The "mid-century modern" cartoon aesthetic is mostly associated with deliberately limited animation, but it works great for full animation as well, like this Snowdrift commercial by John Hubley and Art Babbitt based on Stan Freberg's "John and Marsha". John gets to make some very fun expressions!

PKD’s “Adjustment Team” was actually published a year before “Tunnel Under the World”. Both of these are public domain and easily readable online; I highly recommend both. I haven’t seen the film adaptation ‘Adjustment Bureau’ but I heard it doesn’t even include the talking dog. 😕

Here's an episode of 'The Adventures of Twinkles', a cartoon from 1960. Characters pop from pose to pose. Walk cycles are two frames. There isn't even any lip flap when characters talk! Animation can be as limited as you want it to be. (Or as limited as your circumstances constrain it into being.)

The way Youtube's comment system has been altered over the years makes it so replies to old comments have no context and it's possible the old comment was just deleted so there's this 17 year old comment from me on a YTP I made that just says Gradius IV. The video has nothing from Gradius IV in it.

You don’t really need a budget to do indie animation, the problem is “indie animation” has been reduced to bigger budget/studio works with insane frame-by-frame animation, a big crew/voice cast and a merch line instead of scrappy shit you make in a week by yourself or with some friends in Flash.

Pohl's "Tunnel Under the World" (1955) and PKD's 'Time Out of Joint' (1959) were early, then 'Simulacron-3' came out in '64. And PKD's subsequent books never strayed far

Here's a character I designed a bit over a year ago and still haven't done anything with. He's inspired by the look of cartoons by Zagreb Film, especially "Ersatz". I had a cartoon planned with him as the protagonist but still haven't made it. Maybe someday, but it's not currently a priority.

I'd read the 1880 poem "The Tay Bridge Disaster" by William McGonagall before and found it one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I'd ever read.
