A Bird Afraid of Feathers â Plant Based Press
Years ago, I ran across a fractal image that looked just like feathers. I loved it immediately, and resolved to use it as a book cover (with appropriate licensing and attribution, of course). That eventually resulted in the anthology HOPE: The Thing With Feathers, published on 2 Aug 2025. It's an anthology of hopeful, feather-related SFF stories. I wrote my own contribution early on - "A Bird Afraid of Feathers" - and included it as the last story in the book.

Can't help but wonder how US authors would feel if a French AI company stole their novels, and a French court told them they couldn't be made whole because they'd foolishly neglected to register their copyright in a government office in Paris. Copyright is copyright.

Pro tip: Make sure your e-mail address is set up properly to show your name or pen-name. I get a lot of e-mails that are, e.g., from 'fred' at
