Gaming Journalism is already such a rocky industry, and the standards set by Valnet allow other sites to try and break onto the scene using the same payment model. Pay your fucking writers their worth. Writing 1000-2000 words for $15 is beyond unacceptable.

It's actually shameful how many SMALL indie publications are also adopting the pay per click model. It's not acceptable by any means, but is slightly more understandable than Valnet. Valnet's success is built off the back of freelancers who are just trying their best to make a living.

Not even surprised atp. Valnet continues to be scum and decimated gaming journalism.

On Thursday evening Valnet issued new contracts to writers at TheGamer instituting a minimum article viewership threshold for payment. Most writers already have pay tied to article performance, but this new system would mean that if a piece didn't get X number of clicks you wouldn't be paid for it.

I don’t know, rebranding is actually a pretty cool way to clog up the news cycle so folks aren’t talking about your horrific environmental impact, the war crimes you’re helping execute, and your cutthroat business practices tbh!

I hate how steam doesn't punish this behaviour positive review, based on the fact it's beatable in the refund period so you can get your money back you liked the game, but actively decided to exploit the system just to get your £15 back from an indie dev you actual piece of trash.
