Today's
#BirdOfTheDay
theme is
#AmongTheRipples
with an alternate of
#BestSideEye
. Tufted ducks glare at you always, and this female gives us a twofer as she leaves a trail of ripples behind her through reflected railings.

It is very delicate work figuring out how to start living with and beginning to make space for yourself within another person's long term home and habitat.

At the boyfriend's, and I'm up early of course. Needed to eat and all there is is 1% milk and off brand cereal. I need to come over here more often to justify having some food I like here.

Look at this gorgeous cameo of Artemis, hair back, expression unemotional, ready to kill again. Oh wait, am I doing that thing where I describe myself instead of the artwork?

Probably having been the copy chief of Random House for a decade or two would give me reasonable insight into whether "many books are published without typos," but sure, you tell me how it all works. Please.

Kids today have lost the fine art of bullshitting a 10 page paper from a single Funk & Wagnalls entry or from reading only the CliffsNotes. 🤣

Watched videos about building things by Simone Giertz who is so ridiculously much more functional and fearless than I am and played Tiny Bookshop which I cannot wait to come out on mobile, I'm so glad it is. I have tons of games I wish were doing that, I would pay for them twice easily.

When I wake up to go to work most of my internet is the UK/Europe and they are already past their lunchtime, very awake, always surreal because I'm just trying to find pants here and become a person who is alive.

I have another way to avoid AI in Instagram and that's to not have an account at all, which is what I do. I just send all my photos and links to actual friends via text and discord. But I get that's missing the point of how people use Instagram.

Lots of near biting episodes today. This sounds so violent and scary to people outside the trade of childcare, but what if you had no words to get space for yourself or a toy that you were playing with that someone else just took? So we shadow the kids who are prone to it, and help them out.

I took headache meds at 5am and made myself gather frozen food from my malfunctioning fridge for lunch (at least it's cooling things? We put in a maintenance request anyways) and scrounged things that inexplicably did not freeze for breakfast and I'm still trying to become human.

One of my fave things in York Minster: a medieval wren stalking a spider. It reminds me that history isn't only kings and battles. Someone, centuries ago, found joy in the same things we still notice today. It's a reminder of how much we have in common over our differences.

had to pull half of it together and I finished it off with the veggies at the end. Then to make up for everything I've done badly lately I did the dishes again.

The best game I've gotten this year has been Tiny Bookshop which has real books listed including manga and has a delightful mechanic of offering recommendations to customers. The steam sale was kind to me and I got it with birthday money a friend gifted me.

This week did not go as planned and ennui came busting back in the door right after I got so much done in our house but before I finished it all. I've got a lot of napping done. We might go swimming today but this seems like a stretch. Maybe grill something. Work will consume me starting tomorrow.
