I've been recovering from a #depression episode. At the start, I was ruminating. In my case it was because it felt like I could solve the problem. Much like a gambling addict feels they will get a payout. Replaying conversations and trying to find new things I could say, but it's a fool's errand. 🧵

I could argue that auto-complete typing on the phone has messed up my ability to write short words like pronouns, "not" and articles, but I will use the excuse that in the Agarthian language we don't have articles, we prefix words with "mal" instead of negating and rarely need pronouns.

Had interest in electronics, so programming wasn't that far out. Learned I have too much mental instability to maintain a job. Programming is cheap. All you need is a computer, sometimes internet. Game dev is more motivating, expressive and well integrated environment. So that's where I'm at.

My Framework 12 stylus finally arrived. I got a Lenovo Precision Pen 2 before, but couldn't get it to work. It should, through MPP2 protocol, but the tech support @frame.work couldn't figure out why. #Cross_Pollinator I made this #sketch of an Agarthian soldier in RNote with the new Stylus!

I saw a #flatearth er say that things that disappear behind the #horizon can't come back into view when you raise in height. So I went to Google maps. Near Peniche, PT, there's the Berlenga island, which is a bit distant, but well visible within horizon. 🧵

I've been using the @frame.work 12 for a while and it does have a bunch of good ideas I don't see on other laptops. The speakers are aimed sideways, the cooling intake is on top rather than at the bottom. But that power button... I keep pressing it accidentally. Also where's the stylus?

@gaelthedev.bsky.social A part of the research I did for my game project has been about watching 2 hour long UFO story videos. It turns out they are pretty much useless as inspiration, absurd and goofy as hell. Tutorial hopping on how to use the game engine has been more productive.

I just realized there's a major anachronism in #Metal_Gear_Solid The Phantom Pain. Sahelanthropus is referenced as inspiration for walking robots. The story is set somewhere in the 1980s, but the hominid fossil was only discovered in 2001.

I've tried the demo of White Knuckle: store.steampowered.com/app/3195790/... It's a good game with novel mechanics. My issue with it is how the character bounces all over the place and the mantling doesn't seem reliable.

I've developed a voice recorder for mobile, which behaves like an old tape recorder, so it isn't always asking to save and load files and you can move a playhead and overwrite segments. But can't finish this because I don't know how audio manipulation works in #godot

“there are too many video games” is only a problem for journalists and “core” enthusiasts. personally i am not interested in silksong or borderlands 4 (which i’m sure are excellent) so they might as well not exist to me. normal people are not aiming to play every major release, esp in this economy.

If the Rapture only happened to people who believe it is a real thing, this would be a much more pleasant and sane country to live in.

I don't find a good gif for it, but Shoot 'Em Up is pretty cathartic.

#Godot #retrocomputing Here's Tinker Table, a simple CPU #emulator. You can select or even design different ISAs. With the 6809, for eg, it displays the state of the flags, registers, and with the big table in the middle, memory contents. Then you can write assembly code to see the numbers change. 🧵

#gamedev I was having this idea for either a fiction writing or gameplay mechanic... Usually you think as doors opening if you have the one of many keys. But what if you have a door that opens to different places depending on the key? You could use the same door to enter locations of given key.

Godot 4.5 is out I love updating Godot, because with Unity updates were this big thing with like a separate launcher and getting into your account and deciding what all to install etc etc, and updating Godot is like "here's your 200mb exe file"

#gamedev Sometimes you are making a game with a lot of entities which you need to be able to quickly select, or an open world where you need to dynamically only spawn entities close to the player. You can't just iterate through all the entities to check which ones are within a range. 🧵
