I’ve ran into this so many times. People think creatives are just naturally talented, that they create everything with perfect precision the first time and that they have done it since birth. It’s practice. It’s 100s of hours, doing the same thing over and over and doing it better through failure.

I mean, like all of Bluesky, I am a nerd... and if the Singularity had really come with AI, I would be very excited and very terrified. But maaaaaan. These techbros are annoying af and are doing their best to accelerate us deeper into the Anthropocene (from which there will be no returning).

I am reading several different kinds of writing this month, mostly first and second drafts: dissertation chapters, qualifying exams, edited volume chapters, and article manuscripts. I'm also reading non-federal grants, which are final versions of scholars' work. I can't feed any of that into a LLM.
