Sorry I hate to say it but 2018/19 art twitter is never coming back no matter how many places we try and run to. The world has changed, the way people use social media has changed. Sure I'd love if that kind of thing still existed but it's never going to be exactly like that ever again.

Sure I can blame several 19th century authors for this but the modern association of Gothic architecture with being dark and scary is kinda wild (and a little frustrating) when it was an architectural style literally designed to make cathedrals get as much light in as possible.

Not sure if my art is surface-level dark enough to fit into the spooky artist niche anymore tbh, like sure my most recent painting has sad gays surrounded by lethally poisonous flowers and singing plants but it's also bright and colourful. Doesn't really fit the vibe people expect

Also this is the same church that last year I had to run around with buckets during a thunderstorm to catch water leaking through the roof and down the walls... And then got promptly soaked myself the moment I stepped out of the (fan vaulted) porch

A little farewell visit to one of my favourite medieval buildings, St Mary's, Fairford. I have visited many, but no other church I've seen retains its pre-reformation character like this one. A near complete collection of early 16th century stained glass, original screens, choir stalls, floors even.

Sorting through old stuff, found the holy trinity so obviously that's in the "keep" pile

I knew these few weeks of life purgatory would mentally suck, but now I'm firmly in the middle of them, I know I was right: this really does suck, and I'm constantly on the edge of losing it, and everything I fill my day with is just a distraction from the reality of said purgatory
