Curiously, the afternoon today - with the council of deans, the provost, and the administrative counterparts to the deans - all went super well. Either they are going easy on candidates or I am good at those kinds of interactions (which I didn’t know) or I am so tired that I just think I did well.

I have 3 car rides today, and by happenstance they’re all with the same driver. I gather a town car has been assigned to me for the whole day. The driver very thoughtfully offered to hold my luggage in the car all day to save me having to schlepp it around through the interview, which is a godsend.

Day 2. Starting out pre-exhausted, to save time and show I work ahead of deadlines.

Mostly things went well today, but: My job talk was pretty rough (for me). I’m a gifted public speaker and that was not evident today. This alone probably knocks me out of the running. 1/?

Today is Day 1 of the interview I am decidedly ambivalent about having. Wish me luck? (Or, wish them luck? I think they need luck, they seem to lack common sense!)
