I think my least-favorite genre of big fishing so far is "intuition window triggered by catching 5-6 fish from two or more different species." You have to make that int window inside a general time/weather uptime window that may itself be under five minutes, btw.

"Strix" and "Striga" are both "owl" with a bonus connotation of "witch." Her birth name, Nonohi Nohi, is "Smallsmall Small" in proto-Plainsfolk, so you can probably figure why she's loath to use it.

Strix is the youngest of an original cohort of 5, with a 7-year age gap after her next-youngest brother. As of ARR, she has 1 surviving brother, 2 older step-sibs. You could connect her hard drive toward competence/self-sufficiency and being a little defensive by default to having been The Babiest.

Playing with the idea of resurrecting my hornyjail priv. Like, I don’t shy away from frank sex talk here, but I can see a real good reason to put a strong wall between, eg, terato, and me being a known Raubahn stan or all the cool queer MOC I meet by staring at people at art parties.

Strix finally learned to cook in EW, because she was obligated to spend a significant stretch of time in Sharlayan. You know, the homeland of most Scions? She'll eat anything that Tataru hands her, and will maybe trust Thancred's recs for places to get takeout. Otherwise she's foraging for herself.

For short folks, some amount of this is about making their proportions look a little less exaggerated. Doing tone-on-tone/tone-in-tone can help you do that with a bit more dimension.

This whole DLSS 5 talk is honestly reminding me of the many times I tried to talk friends into playing some older games and the excuse was always "I did not age well". While I agree that some games don't age well from a gameplay perspective, more often than not people say that meaning just graphics.

It's less correct to say that Strix has a house with a lot of books than that she has a library with some clear space to sleep or make coffee.

Strix does her best to ride the very thin line between the strategic advantage of not being considered at all and carrying herself with enough authority/self-assurance that she doesn't literally, physically get stepped on.

Strix is in the awkward bucket of simultaneously touch-starved (and from a high-touch/small-personal-space-bubble culture of origin) and defensive about/easily overwhelmed by it. The list of people from whom she easily accepts casual touch is very short.

Strix’s attitude is essentially “Why kiss and tell when you could kiss and selfishly hoard the joy of it for yourself and your lover instead for once in your life?”

While I’m yelling about perfume stuff; it was really exciting when a handful of routes in Sil’dihn Subterrane crucially featured myrrh as a symbol of prior cooperation between Thorne-regent-era Ul’dah and the Amalj’aa.

Oh man, this question is my jam! In universe, Strix does perfumery as a side gig and an aesthetic outlet. IRL, I’m an indie/niche ‘fume enjoyer and do some experimentation with DIY scent. The high points of Strix’s olfactory signature are labdanum, myrrh absolute, cassie, and fossil amber.

Strix instinctively copes with distress by self-isolating and, even if pressed, will tend to severely downplay the damage- Others' emotional response is sufficiently overwhelming that she'd rather suffer alone/carry on at badly-reduced capacity than enlist help. This is, needless to say, unpopular.
