Strix lost her mom, among other relatives to an early summoning of Ifrit. Her dad remarried in a handful of months, but she’d left for Ul’dah by then. She didn’t meet her stepmom until she evacuated to wait out out the worst of the fallout from the calamity 10 years later.

This combined with the earlier thing where, due to the trend for (patchily-taught) whole language/MSV/3-cueing, a lot of <30YO folks straight up can’t read.

I rotate through a handful of them. “Archmage/Grandmaster of Magic” and the “Flame-“ ones are the ones I use most commonly, and most canonical for Strix.

I do some combination of the two- sometimes I think through stuff systematically and throw bits out from that, sometimes I invent new details because I find them fun and need to adjust other stuff around them. I also feel free to edit stuff if it seems to make the whole picture work better.

Also I will never not yap about how good of a character Artoirel is narrative wise. He went from pettily ignorantly blowing off the WoL and wishing them harm to “I was horribly wrong and I’m sorry about that”. To admit you’re wrong, that is strength I love man.

I love making oc/oc connections... love tying characters together. platonic. sexual. romantic. antagonistic. its all good its so fun to play toys. get in the sandbox.

Lalafell are drawn at a totally different resolution than other spokens. My handful of mods push that closer to parity, and make it possible to dress/style Strix as a short adult who has to perform her adultness extra hard in-universe to be heard.

Strix is here to dump dense blocks of in-universe technical info that you won’t have an emotional stake in until 2-3 expacs down the line, if ever. You’re going to spacebar through it or go grab a bathroom break and a snack while she’s talking. Which is to say, she’s written fairly accurately.

Depends on which "instance" of Strix. For ones where WoLNPC is operative, yes, that happens sometimes post-60. The 'marriage' part is non-controversial; the *wedding* on the other hand, is fairly fraught:

XIV as a story loves discarding friction the moment doing so serves the pacing (see Y'shtola suddenly being okay with the Exarch after three years despite having JUST FOUND OUT HIS PLAN IS TURNING YOU INTO A LIGHTWARDEN) so the fact that she stays in that real and messy grey area is astonishing
