Something that’s taken me far too long to realize is that Japanese media is often operating on a different level than Western media. Something like anime can often be misread as shallow or surface-level, for instance, but it’s more that its goals are different. It’s about feeling, not subtext.

Aaaaand done. Good show. Very creative and thought-provoking. It has the same energy as the Three Body Problem books (not the terrible TV show). My only criticism is that I’m already frustrated thinking about all the ways the Reddit-brains with no media literacy are going to bounce off it.
