Also interesting that “using generative AI” is becoming synonymous with “creating untrustworthy crap.” Anyone writing anything in a professional capacity should take the note: if you use genAI, you’re risking your entire professional reputation. Just do the work already.

Even if this government report wasn‘t generated using AI — a big if — that it contains incorrect and made-up references should be enough to discredit it and the author. Speaking from experience, this would *never* happen in a report prepared by professional researchers.
