What Trump has been doing to Cuba is unconscionable. He's singlehandedly forced the island into a humanitarian crisis over recent weeks. An American president canβt be given carte blanche to threaten hostile takeovers of other nations and sow mass chaos around the world. (1/2)

I love Trump's choice to put his signature on paper money as inflation skyrockets toward near-post-COVID levels because of his own idiotic policies. "Why is this dollar getting me less than it used to? Oh, it says right here." Next he should watermark his face on all receipt paper.

Trump had congressional Republicans block Dem efforts to fund TSA 11 times before killing an agreement that would have funded the agency. Then he realized he'd shit the bed so bad it was a national emergency. CNN headline:

Details obviously needed to know if this is real/viable, but DHS does have a huge reserve of unspent funds. If those funds can be spent on TSA, it could mean less for ICE/CBP - and with this off the table, better chance of Dems holding the line on demands for ICE/CBP reforms. Good.

If Trump believes he has the power to pay TSA now, it means he believes he's had this power from the start of the shutdown. It's an admission he could have tried this from day 1, but chose not to because he hoped making travelers suffer would pressure Dems to cave and fund Border Patrol and ICE.

I have a lot to say on the positives of these mass scale peaceful protests. They can not be the only action, but they're important pillars. They're high visibility, can give us all an energy boost, can foster new connections, and are excellent entry points for people who want to start taking action.
