Decided to make a tier list of all the games I played in 2025. The first half of the year was really busy, so I didn't get to play quite as many new games as I'd have liked. But at least I didn't play many bad ones.

Oh no. I've fully locked in on UNBEATABLE's Arcade Mode.

Finished UNBEATABLE about an hour ago. I first discovered it last year through its re-reveal trailer, and quickly spent like a week straight hammering White Label. Since then it's always been somewhere in my mind, and was probably my most anticipated game going into 2025.

I decided to finish Metroid Prime 4 off-stream and yeah that sure was a fourth Metroid Prime game, despite not actually being about Metroid Prime. I'm really conflicted on it. Presentation, controls, and mechanics are all brilliant. But plot, game structure, and the open world really drag it down.

Many peers have said to me "Wow, great work cara, but if you want ME to do the coding for you next time just ask." The assumption that women and girls don't want to or can't learn programming is almost as deplorable as pushing them to use generative AI instead.

First half of this year was very busy so I didn't get to play as many games as I wanted to, and 9 of them I only launched briefly to capture gameplay. But also this was the year I clicked with a fighting game for the first time, and a further 7 of these games were indies, so I'd call it a good year

It's wild to me that, after Concord, The Game Awards would give the big final reveal of the night to an unproven studio and their unproven multiplayer IP that doesn't seem to have much setting it apart. I'm sure it'll be a perfectly fine game. But so was Concord, and we saw how that went.

I will critique Geoff Keighley to the ends of the earth, but I will always respect his undying dedication to The Muppets

For once, Geoff Keighley is wearing shoes that somewhat match his outfit. They still aren't great, but he's improving.

Best Adaptation is genuinely an awful category. I don't think any of those nominee's reviewed well, game adaptations still haven't gotten consistently good, and it feels weird to be glorifying not-games during a game awards show. But Geoff needs money.
