We are treated very, very differently to our cisgender peers growing up, we're ostracized and brutalized into a shell of ourselves, so we retreat and that closet is an extremely painful place to be, one that is immeasurably difficult to relate or explain to someone else if you've not lived it.

I'm reluctant to speak up on trans topics these days because it's often not worth the pain caused, so I'm probably going to regret this, but disappointingly a lot of people need to hear this. Accusing trans women of "male socialization" is an astonishingly cruel, callous, and spiteful thing to say.
