People denounce AI so quickly with "oh it looks so bad" or "you can always tell" but that's not always true. And that's what scares me about it most, if we just talk about how bad it looks we're going to get the DARE effect and people won't get why it's also bad when it *does* look good

People are side eyeing your use of AI when you make your fucking indir game or your website or app or w/e because we're seeing genAI obliterate entire job sectors, govts completely abandon climate policy to chase AI, warfare and state surveillance get supercharged etc I dont care if it codes gud

Always swearing that actually everyone uses it, that they totally see productivity results from using it, that using AI is functionally identical to plugging in code you found online in terms of code-spaghettification, that everything you hate isnt AI, but also X or Y old tech counts as AI etc etc

If you are of the inclination to say that some jobs by humans are more okay to replace with AI than others, I think you should be banned from writing about AI until you can write a 2,000 word essay on class warfare and the fascistic dehumanization of "unimportant" artists.

I don’t want “a little” AI use in any game or art or writing, even if it makes it “easier” for you. It sours the whole thing. Just like I don’t want a little shit in my cake mix even if I don’t taste it in the final cake, or for the baker to not wash their hands because it’s faster.

Do you think we enjoy being AI haters? Absolutely not. I’m sick of talking about it and thinking about it, sick of boycotting companies and creators who try to pathetically excuse AI use. But there’s too much is at stake to look the other way.

If your game (or whatever other project or art you work on) gets caught using genAI the only response I want to see is an apology and commitment to not use in the future. There’s no justification at this point using technology that pollutes communities and steals labor.
