All three tads have front legs now! Here's pics of the oldest and youngest tads from today. The oldest tad is visibly smaller, and its tail is about 40% of the size of the youngest one, as it has not eaten for about 2 weeks now while it reabsorbs its tail, and changes its mouth type

some of the different coloured shrimp from my 7g cube. Getting a skittles mix of shrimp colours has created some pretty fun iSpy moments in the tank. I'd say about 15% of the shrimp are wild-type, while the rest have a veriety of fun colours and patterns. I'd recommend it!

Scientists off the coast of Argentina found a rare giant phantom jelly 820 feet below the ocean's surface. The phantom jelly can grow as long as a school bus and was first discovered in 1899.

An update on my office aquarium 🐟 I dont love the wood placement (need to add or remove a piece), but I'm liking the addition of the red tiger lotus, as I think the fish and shrimp feel bolder with the shade and cover it provides. Left is how it looks today, right is how it looked in December.

A moment of life A 99-million-year-old snapshot of a Cretaceous forest. Here we see a twig, conifer foliage, rain bubbles, a tiny gnat... and a lone pseudoscorpion pincer. This is not just a single moment in time, but rather a glimpse at an ecosystem.

So you're a medieval landlord, collecting property rent from your peasants in eels. How do you count them? Eels were usually counted in units called sticks (25 eels) -- possibly from the number of eels you can smoke on a stick at one time. 10 sticks of eels was called a bind. 🗃️🧪

European perch will follow around eels and wait for them to distrub prey then quickly rush in to snatch the food away from the eel. This is a learned behaviour showing fish aren't quite as dumb as you might think.
