Amazing to think we once had 8ft long fish swimming around British rivers less than a hundred years ago. I do think european sturgeon would recolonize on there own eventually but this may take decades so need a helping fin. The threats to them now are barriers to migration

Caught my 120th UK species today the target was red band fish which eventually put in a appearance but then got a surprise capture of a Steven’s Goby a species I hadn’t even thought that I’d be able to catch one. Great trip on Anglo Dawn Boat Charter - Falmouth as always !

Do any of my Cornish followers have stick insects in there gardens? I remember one falling on my head when I was in falmouth a few years ago! We have three species established in the UK all from New Zealand originally and found in many cornish gardens.

This handsome chap is an edible frog the only native water frog to Denmark those colours are incredible!

Last night was a bit special I joined Natural Resource Wales on the Usk to catch some Twaite Shad for tagging. Normally it’s a protected species and it’s illegal to target them in England & Wales but we needed to get some to tag movements.

The only native herptile I haven't seen in the wild is the Natterjack toad something I'm planning to remedy next year. They are Britains rarest toad and a protected species normally found on sand dunes and some heaths.

Been trying to track down one of these for a while to photograph the edible frog! Named after its tasty qualities it's a strange frog in that its actually a hybrid of a pool frog and marsh frog.
