As I was walking along the rocky shore as usual, I found a moray eel washed up... Its expression seems to tell the story of how harsh the sea can be…!!

While walking along the rocky shore, I noticed something strange mixed in with a group of brittle stars. It looks like an octopus that thinks it’s a brittle star 🐙⁡

A cute and tasty mudshrimp relative, often used as fishing bait ₍₍⁽⁽🦐₎₎⁾⁾ But on its abdomen is a parasitic crustacean called a rhizocephalan barnacle…!!

He/She glows.

I met a tiny baby crab at the beach 🦀 I sometimes call small creatures “babies” as a figure of speech, but this one is a real baby 🫧✨

While waiting for their tank water to be changed, these Calappa crabs are staying in a separate container (*´艸`) They’re toddling around 🦀🦀,,⁡

I found a mysterious creature in the sea 🫧 ͛.* Its swimming is honestly impressive, but sorry if this kind of animal isn’t your thing.

Technically, this isn’t a crab.

Two nudibranchs were getting all snuggly together ❤︎ Not this time, but depending on the species, nudibranchs are known to sometimes mate even with different species… I’d love to witness that someday 🫶𓈒𓏸︎︎︎︎⁡

When I brushed through the sand, a tiny white crab popped out 🦀𓈒𓏸︎︎︎︎ From the outside, there’s no way you’d ever spot it!

I found a big, beautiful nudibranch on the rocky shore!! Even when I gently flipped it over, it had cute and beautiful patterns on its underside too 🫧✨

An aquarium staff member contacted me and gave me this individual after it washed up on the shore. It was in a condition that made it difficult to exhibit or keep, so they hoped many people could still see it this way!! It still has some sand on it, but I photographed it just as it was🐚..

A relative of the sea elephant (Pterotracheoidea) is slowly gaining popularity in Japan🫧 ͛.* It drifts through the ocean, but despite its jellyfish like look, it’s actually a type of sea snail 🐚✨️

Look closely at the surface of the sea cucumber… There’s a strange little creature hiding there! This scale worm changes its coloring to match its sea cucumber host. You’d never notice it unless it moves. Such amazing camouflage! ✨️

Hey English speakers, I need your help✨️ おはようみうし“Ohayō miushi” is a Japanese wordplay. It combines “Ohayō” (good morning) and “umiushi” (sea slug / nudibranchb). In Japanese: Ohayō → good morning umiushi → sea slug / nudibranch Is there a natural way to express this kind of pun in English?

I found a sea slug relative that carries a shell 🫧 ͛.* Its white, translucent mantle is spilling out from the shell! And most of all, look at that face… those tiny round eyes are just too cute 👀✨
