hmm! today I learned the Psorophora mosquitos which bite me in the woods here in FL are probably one of, if not THE largest mosquitos that actually bite. Toxorhynchites or "elephant mosquitos" are larger (and live here also) but they have predatory larvae, and cannot/do not need to consume blood.
