Last week my daughter placed 4th in her category but didn’t place in the top 10 overall. Still she placed pretty high out of 80 dancers despite falling out of her penchè, having a migraine and throwing up right after her dance. This week she nailed it. No matter what she places she was amazing.

Another dance competion. The hotel has an Irish Pub and we are sitting in what’s basically a library. They have all these old books but one of them seems a bit out of place.

Older man at my mom’s apartment complex told me he lost his phone and asked me to call it for him. I walked him to his apartment and called his number and he found the phone. Five minutes later he calls and leaves a message on my phone telling me he’s sorry he missed my call but he’d lost his phone.

My wife is making Irish potatoes with her class today while I am sitting here updating our sign in sheets for ISP/BSP training like a chump.

We’ve been watching Beauty on Hulu. My wife loves Ryan Murphy shows and I do as well but she finds it funny how uncomfortable I get with the sex scenes. It doesn’t help that our 17 year old had an uncanny knack of walking into the living room the moment the weirdest of sex scenes starts.

Finished Duma Key this morning. Liked the ending a lot more than I remember. I think my next book in my rereading my lesser favorite Stephen King novels will be either From a Buick 8 or Revival. I chose not to reread FAB8 during my Dark Tower reread so might as well do it this round.

My current read in my “Read all the Stephen King books you didn’t particularly love” plan is Duma Key. I remember struggling to get into this one but am much more engaged with it this time. Still won’t be a favorite but digging the atmosphere.

It’s interesting because our musical tastes has a lot of overlap but she definely leans more into the post punk, new wave than me and is decidedly anti-country but likes rockabilly and some bluegrass. I lean more alt-county. Her favorite band is The Cure while mine is Cracker.

My wife, who is definitely in the Goth Spectrum, revealed early in our relationship that her first celebrity crush was Brian Setzer. She just got us tickets for The Stray Cats. This has me wondering if there is a musical subgenre called Gothabilly. Not sure I want to google this.

I’m super fascinated by people who have never been to Bucks County who believe it is a hotbed of leftist radicalization.

People are trying to say that the local kid who threw the bomb were radicalized by their school administration. This is the same school, Neshaminy, that spent nearly a half million dollars fighting the court order to change their name from the Redskins. Not exactly woke.

Everytime there is a routine to Dirty Diana during a competition my wife gets noticeably annoyed. This happens a bare minimum of 3 times a competition.

My daughter does this year’s competition solo for the first time in about 10 minutes or so at True Damce Challenge. She won overall soloist at this competition 3 years ago. I think my wife is more nervous than she is.

At the Dance Competition. Was sitting in the lobby reading and I looked up and the girl who was running through her solo’s butt was like right in my face. So I decide to move and walk past a sign which said “Butz Lobby.” I guess there is truth in advertising.

This weekend is the girls first dance competion of the year. As always my job will be to drive us there with a decent playlist, provide snacks, purchase program and pen/highlighter, find an aisle seat and most importantly, making snarky comments about inappropriate song choices for mini dances.

I really enjoyed the boom Project Hail Mary, especially the audiobook version with @realrayporter.bsky.social’s narration but I am kinda meh about the upcoming movie version. Not exactly sure why.

I don’t think people who didn’t grow up in a Fundamentalist church understand how important end-times eschatology is to them. You can have wildly different interpretations of what Jesus meant when he said “love your neighbors” but if you’re not a dispensationalist you’re not a true christian.

I haven’t been to a show in South Street since seeing Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven in 2018 at the TLA. I used to love South Street but it got very corporate in the late 90s early aughts. I have to say after the show last night it’s got some of its swag back.

Last night, Ike Reilly on South Street in Philly. Amazing show.

Almost every time I go to a small venue show I arrive early and find a good spot up close with good sight lines. Then some tall ass motherfucker shows up right before the show starts, pushes his way up front and stands right in front of me.

Just drove down to South Street in Philly for an Ike Reilly show while listening to a Stephen King audiobook. Ka is a wheel and that wheel is on a Nova driven by a Commie.

Journey frontman Whosit Nobodyguy criticizing Bad Bunny’s half time show is that story everybody already knew they didn’t give a fuck about.

I voted for Fetterman. Probably the biggest mistake vote of my voting history. Recently I saw a post basically chastising those of us who voted for us with, “You should have listened to us! We told you he was problematic!” Like who told us?

I used to go to concerts, movies and Phillies games by myself all the time. Tonight I am going to a show for the first time by myself since getting married 4 years ago. It seems weird now, like I’m doing something wrong.

One thing some people don’t get about Lower Bucks County. It’s an easier drive to Philadelphia than it is to Doylestown. There’s really no good route from Levittown to Doylestown.

Today my Facebook Memories is full of vacation pictures. Our honeymoon in New Orleans, our 1st anniversary trip to Savanna, my trip to St. Augustine in 2017, Spring Training in Clearwater in 2016. Today I’m at work with no vacation in sight. (Well, the Poconos in June for the girl’s Nationals.)

So it looks like Scott Presler, right wing agitator who has been a huge advocate of The SAVE ACT and who stirred his followers up about student walk outs in Pa (which may have contributed to threats against the schools) want to run for office in Beaver County, Pa.
