My wife just noted to me that based on the resale prices of tickets it would be cheaper for us to fly to france to see a Yungblud show then to buy two tickets to the rescheduled show in Philly.

There is a new show on Netflix called Wayward about a mysterious school for troubled kids in a town called “Tall Pines” and doesn’t seemed to be based on books by Blake Crouch or @seananmcguire.bsky.social and I’m super confused and disappointed.

Today’s Hot take: “Say No to This” is the worst Hamilton Song. Also, I’ve never actually watched more that 15 minutes of Hamilton. I also have a favorite Hamilton song but that’s probably a different post.

Those of us who were raised in fundamentalist churches watching the Thief in the Night movies have been preparing for this day since the 1970. We know not to trust this dude, even if his mustache is on point.

I think this will be my 4th time I was left behind from a rapture. I remember the first time the rapture was supposed to happen when I was around 11 and I was working on my plan to hide from UNITE and the antichrist after the rest of my family was raptured.

I don’t understand why organizations that sell their own tickets also add a “Convenience Fee” especially when they only sell tickets online. Why is this more convenient when it’s the only option? Then they ask you to tip before you even get there. Seems weird to me.

So, I love Octoberfest beer (more marzen than festbiers, but either work) but I wish more places had Dunkels this time a year as well. Had a dunkel at one of our local breweries over the weekend and it was excellent.

I know authors say you should write reviews, because of the algorithm and the like. I actually don’t like reading reviews before I read books, but I appreciate those who write them. But also, don’t forget simply talking about books you like on social media.

Some people told me I need to read some @ericlarocca.bsky.social. Not sure where to start I just randomly choose Everything The Darkness Eats, based solely on the title. Damn, this is good.

The worst part of the weekend was that I had to work, work was exhausting with lots of issues I had to deal with and all the while my two favorite bands where having a “Camp Out” in the California dresser and all my fellow Crumbs were reporting an amazing time being had by all.

Yesterday was my day to pick the movie. The last few movies we watched we pretty intense haunting/dealing with grief movies. I was tired and I just wanted something kind of dumb and fun. I picked Significant Other. I actually really enjoyed it and it wasn’t quite as dumb as I expected.

You know how parents have a deal with their kid, that no matter what they were doing that if they are in trouble or in a situation where they don’t feel safe, to call and they will be there no judgements, no questions asked. Well, I have a similiar deal with my wife.

Today I started book 14 of a series I like. The main character was briefly talking about the events of the last book in the series. I had no clue what he was talking about realizing that somehow I never actually read book 13. So now, here I am reading book 13 in a series I like.

Events don’t take place in a bubble. You can acknowledge the fact that something is wrong yet still understand the motives behind it. So, to the 6th grade student at my wife’s work who said to her, “Nice to meet you sexy lady.” I get it, but maybe not the right time and place.

Finished Departure 37. Mixed feelings. Will have to think on this one for a while. Next up…. well, still deciding between Hatchet Girls by @joerlansdale.bsky.social and We Live Here Now by @sarahpinborough.bsky.social. Either way, I know it will be good.

I read a comment recently about an article able Black Sabbath where someone said, “I’m convinced most of the people that say they like Ozzy and Black Sabbath only really like 3 or 4 songs.” My thoughts: Yeah, I’m fine with that. There are bands I like that I only like a few songs. It’s ok.

Next up is Departure 37 by Scott Carson @mjkoryta.bsky.social read by Catherine Ho, Mia Barron and some dude named @johnnyheller.bsky.social for Simon and Schuster. This one really starts with a bang then gets weird!

Had a thought last night. We need something that’s like a cross between fan fiction and IP novelizations where authors write an expanded ending for those movies that end with you saying, “Wait… that’s it? That’s the ending” or “What a great ending but how are they going to explain all the bodies.”

Last nights movie was The Other in Prime Video. So many plot holes and weird inconsistencies but still absolutely had a blast watching that. Had one of those “loved it but need to know more” kind of endings.

Finished Lexie by F. Paul Wilson narrated by @saxonaudio.bsky.social for @crossroadpress.bsky.social. Man, that was a wild ride. Absolutely loved it. It was worth relistening to The Upwelling before I jumped into this one.

Watching the VMAs and I am now totally that old guy that doesn’t get kids music today.

Horror/Audiobook reviewers looking for some great books to review check out this newsletter. Outside of an occasional small review I don’t really do it anymore but Crossroads puts out some great stuff. I do need to do better dropping small reviews at audible/amazon.

I still have one or two Trump supporters on my FB friends list. I stopped engaging then because it’s pointless. But I used them as a template gauge. Sometimes, they go four or five days not posting something defending Trump or attacking “Libs” and I’m like maybe… maybe… but then …. Nope.

I started Lexie by F. Paul Wilson but stopped like an hour in. Wasn’t really connecting with the story, so instead I went back and relistened to The Upwelling and that did it. When I started Lexie again, I was all in. I feel the older I get, the more I need to reread the previous novel.

It’s been a few days since I finished Never Flinch by Stephen King. I am a total King fanboy and absolutely love Holly Gibney, and all the characters in her circle but this one fell flat for me. Just never connected with any of the two storylines and the narration didn’t work for me.

Karoake tonight. Today I attempted two songs I never sang before outside of in my car, Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure and Banditos by The Refreshments. The DJ told me her cover band plays Banditos.

Today a staff person who was having some issues with his Green card asked me to help and damn if that bureaucracy isn’t more serpentine than Medusa’s scalp.

I got back from vacation yesterday at like 11pm and had to work today. Honestly, it wasn’t my most productive days but at least it was weird. We had a meeting today and one of the topics was just something I never thought we would be discussing with all the big wigs.

Going to see NIN tomorrow. I was always a casual fan but my wife is pretty hardcore. There is a scene in Daphne, one of my favorite books by @joshmalerman.bsky.social and its brilliantly written and I am totally incapable of describing the scene to my wife without making it sound stupid.

Last night my wife and I watched Clown in a Cornfield based on the @adamcesare.bsky.social novel. Within the first few minutes they firmly established that there was indeed a clown in the cornfield and it was up to no good yet, people kept running into the cornfield. Lots of fun! Watch it!

My wife and I started MURDERBOT yesterday. It was everything I hoped it would be. We planned to watch an episode or two but we ended up watching 5. Had to remind my wife that she had to be up at 6am today.

Punk Show: 30 Songs, Band Intros, Crowd Hype, overly long drum/bass solo: 90 minutes. New Wave Show: 25 songs, little to no talking between songs: 3.5 hours. EDM/Ambient/Noise Show: 4 Songs, No talking, Lights Darkened so you can’t see the band: 7 Hours.
