The so-called "red tape" that needs cutting is Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael's chaotic housing policies that created and then compounded the housing crisis. Zero point trying to blame anything or anyone else, or trying to pretend that the financialisation of housing isn't a core ideological failure.

From the last 20 minutes I saw tonight of #áras25 debate Connolly looked presidential. To me she's showing that she can be both a values-led meaningful critic and the type of leader/statesperson that the president has always been in my lifetime.

I cannot stress enough that every candidate had seven years to get their ducks in a row here. That she chose to try at the last minute and feels affronted that she failed actually speaks to the deep level of privilege which she is being rightly criticised for about her bag.

It strikes me that Jim Gavin and Catherine Connolly have the opposite issues to prove they are to win #áras25. Connolly has the experience as a politician, but is seen by some as too anti-establishment. Gavin has a career representing the establishment but needs to prove himself as a politician
