X’s European headquarters are in Ireland. So for Europe, presumably it is Ireland’s responsibility to manage safeguarding concerns and bring charges where appropriate?

As I see my friends reach the stage of their lives where their parents’ health is deteriorating, I genuinely don’t know how they do it. It’s odd to say that I’m grateful I won’t have that experience, but I am. Losing parents young comes with its own challenges of course.

Not criticising Malcolm Byrne in this but multiple legal experts, the Tánaiste and others have already said what’s happening is illegal. This could easily go down the road of the “we have to do something new” response tactic which actually delays doing anything altogether - or completely derails it

Resistance to acknowledging the role of the family system in the ‘illness’ of the family patient is not unusual. Often, family members fear blame, rather than recognition of a *system* in which they played a part and in which the patient held something painful for everyone else.

Geez I'm starting to get worried about our pals the library protestors. No word from them about X running a child porn suicide machine. Have they been silenced in Irish children's hour of need?

Friends in Clare/Limerick, I've been offered a job working between Ennis & Shannon. I'm looking for somewhere to live, I'll be hoping my 15yo can join me over summer, but I could rent a room til then. If anyone has any accommodation leads please give me a shout. Shares appreciated 🙏

Call a spade a spade - no explanations, equivocations or rationalisations condone or legitimise unfettered, illegal, US interference and instigation against other nations’ sovereignty. Look to history alone. It is and has always been about economic, political and territorial hegemony.

As a sober alcoholic, I always tend to roll my eyes a bit at “Dry January” resolutions or the (to me) flippant use of the word “sober”when speaking abt how difficult it is,so I appreciate how this thread reframes it & encourages a critical recalibration of the role of alcohol in one’s (social) life.

🧵 Drinking less in the new year. I've seen online and in my personal life that many people are setting New Year's Resolutions to drink less or quit drinking altogether. A few thoughts from a therapist's perspective:

So it's an established fact that conversion "therapy" is a form of torture. If your Christianity or any other religion requires torture to exist, then I suggest you very rapidly re-evaluate it.

Growing up in a house steeped in the law, I learned that many people talk about legality with disproportionate emphasis when they are struggling to talk about their feelings or when there is no room for feelings at all.

At some point (*soon*), we have to release ourselves of our need to refer to these actions as illegal. Legality has never curtailed authoritarianism. Unethical. Inhumane. Death dealing. We have so many more words to help with this.

Diagnosis is unstable. Institutions pursue stability because it is administratively useful. When unstable human experience is forced into stable categories, people adapt to survive. The costs increase when labels carry stigma, are treated as final, and systems resist acknowledging error.
