Another win for the car lobby this week in Brussels, as more of the Green deal is watered down. The only winners here will be Chinese EV manufacturers who will now come in to fill the gap left by these European companies.

If the Government are going to increase energy bills to fund the expansion of our grid, it is critical that hard pressed customers get some payback. We need to see the scaling up of pilot schemes that divert excess renewable power to lower-income households to meaningfully tackle energy poverty.

Deeply disappointing that this Government has dropped game-changing rail projects for the Midlands, South-East and Mid-West. These new and reopened rail lines would have given thousands of workers a realistic, affordable commuting option.

Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the so-called "Rural Independents" reverse the 2:1 spending ratio of public transport vs roads delivered by the Green Party in government. They're living in cloud cuckoo land — on climate, nitrates, housing, cost of living, public finance… You name it, they've blown it.

This is appalling. A public transport project that could start tomorrow, and would take loads of traffic on the road, but will not progress at all under this government.

Bringing in new rules with zero public scrutiny or engagement with affected people and advocacy groups is reckless. The consequences of these decisions will be deeply damaging... and the government is relying heavily on media and public attention having moved on to get away with it..

This is an absolute disaster. Taking away money from ready-to-go public transport projects so that they can chuck more cash at new roads. The exact opposite direction we should be going. (Plus: the more you delay projects, the more they cost. Every time.)
