Minister O' Brien has brought to cabinet, a memo on the general scheme of an MPA bill as an amendment to the MAP Act; no timeline for its introduction to the Dáil. In climate committee this week, wind energy sector told me their preference was the standalone MPA bill. We all await publication.

The 2015 Gender Recognition Act was a progressive step forward for Transgender rights in Ireland. But progress has been slow since. I joined Transgender Equality Network Ireland at their campaign briefing to implement recommendations of the 2018 review. Trans rights are human rights.

Probably the most important thing the government could do this budget? Start saving. Deeply unsexy policy, I know, but I've seen first hand what happens when a government just spends everything immediately - without looking to future crises and the threat of climate change.

Wildlife rescues play an important role in our wider conservation efforts in Ireland. I visited Kildare Wildlife Rescue to chat with the team about the huge increase in demand for services. I think its time that there was a strategic fund to support this important work.
