Big claims, but a weak case presented by the airlines this week on the Dublin Airport passenger cap. EU legal opinion is that the passenger cap is likely lawful. The “Open Skies” argument is untested and unproven. What sounds convincing… isn’t holding up in court.

The expansion of 24-hour bus services in Dublin in recent years has been a game changer - giving people more routes home and saving them money. I think a simple diversion of the 39A night time services would allow even more people in the Blanchardstown area to use the route.

This afternoon I chaired the meeting of the Oireachtas Cross Party Group on Cancer today, where we heard from Dr Finbar MacCarthy on the high number of patients breaching waiting times for urgent colonoscopies and from Prof. Gerry Hanna on the need to replace our radiation therapy machines.

Final weekend. One last push. This is about whether you want local plumber Hannah Spencer or the extreme Reform candidate. It's hope vs hate. It's Greens vs Reform. Hope can win.

With threats to one of the last late night venues in the city centre, I asked the Taoiseach whether the Government will reform licensing laws to protect our nighttime economy and to allow people enjoy themselves after 11:30pm!

Yesterday I raised the hugely damaging impact SNA cuts are having on schools around the country. I’m glad the review has been suspended, but the Minister for Education needs to give urgent clarity on what SNA numbers schools will have in September.

Yesterday I joined Muslim Women Together in Dublin 15 for their 20th annual door fair, this year raising money for MS Ireland. Thanks to them and to Castleknock Community Centre for hosting us.

The Government’s latest effort to tackle climate change is simply not to mention it! The Department of Public Expenditure has dissolved its dedicated Climate Unit and amalgamated it was a range of other functions.

⁉️Mandatory helmets on bikes⁉️ I welcome the Tánaiste’s reassurance that new laws will not make cycling without a helmet a crime. It had been reported yesterday that under new laws banning the use of scrambler bikes, it would also be a crime to cycle a bicycle without wearing a hi-vis and a helmet.

So Irish Rail now has to issue 750 compulsory purchase orders to keep the DART+ South West project alive despite no funding commitment from the government. What a mess and it's entirely of this government's making.
