This “shift a code project from one language to another” concept is one of the things @chadfowler.com talked about in his #AtmosphereConf presentation about The Phoenix Architecture atmosphereconf.org/event/OD2G9j8

Don't pick which protocols or platforms win. Enforce interoperability. Break the chokepoints. Fund the public infrastructure layer. Then get out of the way. Diversity grows back on its own — not because you picked the right species, but because you restored the conditions that let new things thrive.

Permissioned data at the protocol layer matters more than people expect. I hit this with human approval workflows where message history had to be durable and portable, and per-server storage made replay and audit messy.

I still think that we can learn a lot from game engine architecture: The game engine is engineered for perf and correctness by experts, using peer-reviewed techniques. The business logic is often a pile of Lua scripts coded by technical artists. We need an engine for running sandboxed vibecode.

Why I like livestreaming as a medium: people will rage against crypto and AI on Bluesky, then come to my stream where I'm literally in the process of using AI to integrate crypto and they'll be like "oh he seems nice 😊"

Personal anecdata: This is me. I went with Tauri for a little toy app I've been working on instead of Electron. The UI is still JS/TS because that's what I know, but the "backend" (mostly data management, some networking and cron stuff) is all Rust.

JavaScript and nodeJS are getting amplified by LLM generated code in a recursive feedback loop. And python and its packages.

I don't think it's emphasized enough how much the real move with LLMs is not to re-steer, to accept what it is to move on: it is to start over, with better direction the first time. @chadfowler.com talks about the "Phoenix architecture" of code, but so too our prompting!!

I'm working on an "Autodelete for the Atmosphere" app. Is that something you in the #atmosphere would find useful? The idea is giving you the ability to set rules per lexicon or per record type about when your records "expire" and get deleted. Does this exist already?
