I believe one of the most effective things non-caregiver adults can do to prevent teens from getting exploited by extremists & other bad actors online, is to go out of our way to make neighbourhoods safer & more welcome places for kids to exist freely. Even when it is irritating/exasperating for us.

I also just can't state enough... the things that reduce loneliness in others also reduce loneliness in young men! I think it's easier to treat if we understand it as a grass-touching deficit and not a unique strain of what is actually a global affliction

For the record, half of how Nick Fuentes gets spread around is that he works tirelessly to embody the “Worst person you know just made a great point” meme. All he needs is for enough people to spread it around and enough people not to know who he is for it to succeed. And it’s going quite well.

Part of the way we make it clear that we're not going to let them get away with it is by calling it what it is. Don't drape it in euphemisms, spell out that they're encouraging young men to seek out opportunities for martyrdom.

Maybe I just don’t remember it but I don’t think there was ever a corresponding trend of articles about conservative parents cutting off their gay kids, which was a thing that absolutely happened en masse in the 90s and aughts as gay culture mainstreamed

Following the bombing of the IVF clinic several outlets and individuals have been writting about how the bombing is nihilistic in nature however that is not the case. Nihilistic violent extremism is not to be used as a replacement for "salad bars" or the shifts we are seeing in the VE landscape.

This trial has been harrowing to follow. I'm so glad she got a big settlement from Hockey Canada a few years ago because it will take thousands and thousands of dollars of therapy to recover from being cross-examined by 5 different lawyers while the country scrutinizes every word and detail.

This article describes ultraviolent acts against women - dismemberment, even cannibalism. This is horrific. I have noticed in this (my) field, though, a concerning tendency* to wait to describe the "real-world violence" of misogyny and male supremacy, until it reaches this ultraviolent threshold.

Allen was 21 years old when he was in contact with the Abundant Life shooter, who was 14 years old while they were in contact, according to the dates in the court documents. It's a gross mischaracterization to call that a "love link." Adults do not have "romantic involvement" with 14yo children.
