My office space is the ghetto. A few hours ago, a woman & her friend were LOUD AF sitting in her office. Then, she invited a whole bunch of women to pregame. They were eating other people’s food, drinking people’s drinks—mine included, & just not gaf about anyone working in the space.

A few weeks ago, I heard a white guy say on twitch, “I’m getting my ass clapped!” He wasn’t talking about sex. He was talking about getting beat up in the video game. Now, this means something completely different in the Black community, which this saying was taken from. #thecaucasity

I’ve come to realize people think slurs are just words that hurt our feelings. No. Slurs, particularly the N-word, F-word, antisemitic terms etc. aren’t taboo because of that. It’s because historically when these terms are said they precede or pair with pitchforks, torches, lynchings & gas chambers.

some friendly advice: if you’re not Black and you see two Black people talking to each other on here, consider the possibility that the dialect is more unfamiliar to you than you think it is and the unspoken communication that is obvious to them may not be obvious to you
